What is All-on-4?

All-on-4 is an implant-supported denture technique that utilizes the naturally denser parts of the jaw to promote successful implant placement. For many patients, this offers a viable alternative to receiving extensive bone grafting procedures prior to dental implant placement.

How is All-on-4 Treatment Completed?

Elderly couple smilingThe All-on-4 treatment process is very similar to the traditional implant-supported denture process with one significant change – the positioning of the implant posts. Traditional implant supported dentures consist of four to six implant posts spread over the width of the jaw to provide support for all parts of the denture. With the innovative All-on-4 technique, rather than evenly spaced implants across the jaw, all four implants are anchored into the denser bone in the front of the mouth. Two implants are placed vertically to support the front of the denture. Then, two longer implants are positioned in the front of the mouth angled towards the back, supporting the back of the denture.

Am I a Candidate for All-on-4?

Those patients who were previously told they would need extensive bone grafting prior to implant denture placement often make the best candidates for All-on-4 dentures. Before we recommend a specific treatment plan, we'll carefully diagnose your oral health and help you make the best decision to ensure a healthy, beautiful, functional smile that lasts.

How Long do All-on-4 Dentures Last?

The longevity of your All-on-4 denture depends in large part on how well they're cared for. Traditional dentures typically need to be replaced every five to ten years. All-on-4 dentures can last up to ten years or longer, and in some cases patients are able to maintain their fixed prosthetic for the rest of their lifetime. To keep your All-on-4 denture functional, you should carefully brush the prosthetic at least two times each day, and for best results, we recommend brushing between meals. Additionally, we may recommend using a specialized flossing tool or water flosser to remove plaque buildup that can accumulate between the gums and denture base.
